What Ultimate actually adds

Rockstar's published list includes the '95 Grotti Cheetah, matching Morgan Revolvers, personalized weapon variants, Vice City styles, safehouse vehicles, additional car builds, shops, garages, a tattoo parlor, a salon, and other named locations or collections.

The important distinction is that these are not described as a separate expansion. Rockstar says the items are threaded through the story and uncovered across chapters. Until the game is available for review, it is not possible to measure how substantial those additions feel during normal play.

Who should buy Standard Edition

Standard is the sensible default if you primarily want the full story, do not value early bonus items, or prefer to decide after reviews. Rockstar confirms that the Ultimate Edition Upgrade can be purchased separately later, so choosing Standard does not permanently close the upgrade path.

Standard is also the only physical option. The box contains a download code rather than a disc, but it remains the version for collectors who want a physical case.

Who should buy Ultimate Edition

Ultimate is for players who already value collectible cars, weapons, clothes, customization, garages, shops, and named bonus locations enough to pay the $20 US difference without waiting for independent reviews.

Do not confuse the Ultimate Edition extras with the Vintage Vice City Pack. The Vintage pack is attached to eligible pre-orders and purchases before November 20, while the broader Ultimate collection is the paid edition upgrade.

Our current recommendation

For an undecided buyer, start with Standard and keep the upgrade option open. For a collector who knows they want every announced story-linked extra, Ultimate is the direct route. Either way, check the exact terms in the platform store for your account region before purchase.
